Working with the extraordinary women of Family Transition Place (FTP), here in Orangeville, I have had the honour of creating a number of pieces to help raise funds to help shelter women and children in need in Dufferin County. Most recently, I worked with FTP’s dynamic and fabulous Stacey Tarrant to create a calendar which features women from around the world. I think it turned out beautifully, but am intrigued to note that probably the most interesting part of the project was finding nuggets of information regarding the status of women from the various countries featured. Certainly the status of women around the world is quite variable and often alarming.
Another project that I work on, year to year, is the Celebrating Women magazine – published by Family Transition Place to mark International Women’s Day in March. The magazine will publish its third issue this year. It’s a big job for one person, but such a pleasure to do, and it’s wonderful to do work to benefit such a good cause.
